Latam Short Film Festival 2025
Rules & Regulations

LATAM invites new filmmaking talents from Brazil and Chile to submit their short films for a chance to win a trip to the 2026 edition of the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, to be hold on Feb 25 in France.

1. SUBMISSION RULES

  • The festival is open to Brazilian and Chilean filmmakers, including naturalized citizens.

  • Each participant may submit only one short film.

  • The short film must have a maximum duration of 20 minutes (including credits).

  • Only films produced from 2023 onward are eligible for submission.

  • The film may or may not have premiered at other festivals or other platforms.

  • The short film must be subtitled in English for submission. Once selected for the Festival, the short film must be subtitled in English and in Spanish and Portuguese. 

  • Submissions must be made through the official form at the following link: Submissions|LatamFilmFestival, attaching the film’s information, preview link, and access password (if applicable).

  • Applicants must ensure they hold the copyright and other IP rights, as well as necessary authorizations and licenses for public screening and joining the festival.

2. CATEGORIES AND THEMES

  • The festival accepts short films of any genre and theme, including fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental.

  • There are no separate categories; all films compete together.

3. SUBMISSION FORMAT​

  • Short films must be submitted digitally via private links on Vimeo, YouTube, or other screening platforms.

  • The original file must be available in MOV format with the following specifications:

- Resolution: 1920x1080

- Framerate: 29.97 or source

- Codec: ProRes 422

- Audio: Each dub should have one stereo mix, laid back to MOV, and a separate WAV format

- Dynamic Subtitles: Must be conformed to the MOV file, .SRT format only, character encoding should be UTF-8*

- Filename Format: TitleOrSeriesName_S#E#_EpisodeName_Languages_AspectRatio_EmbeddedSubs(if any).mov

- MOV Guidelines: 2 seconds of black at the head, 1 second of black at the tail, no commercial breaks, color bar slate, or timecode

- *All films must include subtitles in English, Spanish, and Portuguese in .SRT format.

4. SELECTION CRITERIA

The selection of 12 short films (6 from Brazil and 6 from Chile) to partake the festival among all short films submitted will be conducted by a jury, which is composed of film industry professionals. Evaluation criteria include:

  • Script and narrative

  • Directing and creativity

  • Technical quality (cinematography, editing, sound, etc.)

  • Emotional impact and originality

5. WHAT’S AT STAKE

  • 12 films will be selected for screening on LATAM flights between September 5 and October 31, 2025.

  • Two winners (one from Brazil and one from Chile) will receive the Best Film Award, chosen by the jury.

  • The winners will receive a trip to the Clermont-Ferrand Festival, including airfare, accommodation, and event credentials.

6. RIGHTS AND AUTHORIZATIONS

  • Upon selection, applicants authorize the exhibition of their short film, or part of it, on LATAM flights and in other promotional and marketing events and campaigns related to the festival, even after the festival period, including but not limited to exhibition in all communication platforms of the LATAM group, such as flyers, advertisements, magazine articles, posts in social medias, contents in social medias, content in on-board entertaining program, press interviews and on-board advertisements and announcements.

  • For promotional purposes, the festival may publish, display or make available to the press excerpts no longer than 90 seconds of the selected short films. The festival may also display the full length content of the selected short films to press representatives before, during and after the festival period.

  • All selected films must submit promotional materials for the short films, including a trailer (up to 60 seconds), 3 high-resolution frames, a poster, a long synopsis (up to 120 words) and a short synopsis (up to 60 words), as well as the director(s)' bio(s).

  • The festival is not responsible for copyright or other IP issues or third-party claims.

7. AWARDING AND WINNERS’ OBLIGATIONS

  • The award announcement will take place in November 2025.

  • Winners must be available for interviews and promotional content for LATAM.

  • All travel expenses to the Clermont-Ferrand Festival (flights, accommodation, and meals) will be covered by LATAM.

  • If required by local law, winners must cover any applicable taxes related to the prize.

8. DEADLINES AND IMPORTANT DATES

  • Submissions open until April 30, 2025.

  • Selected films announcement: June 2025.

  • LATAM in-flight screenings: September 5 to October 31, 2025.

  • Award ceremony and winners announcement: November 2025.

9. FINAL PROVISIONS

  • The festival organization reserves the right to make adjustments to the rules, if necessary, to ensure the best execution of the event.

  • The festival complies with data protection legislation. Applicants must ensure to have obtained, as applicable, all authorizations for the submission of personal data. All personal data submitted will be stored and used only for the purpose of the festival.

  • Any omissions in these regulations will be analyzed and decided by the organizing committee.

  • Decisions of the jury, the curatorial committee and the organizing committee are final and not subject to review
